2011 Tournament Reports

SECF Ladies Day Wednesday 6th July 2011

Twelve teams with handicaps ranging from 4 - 20 took part in the annual Ladies Day tournament won last year by West Chiltington. Most clubs had played in previous years but we were pleased to welcome Canterbury for the first time and Ramsgate, who although had not entered a team for many years, had, in fact won the shield in 1991.
The tournament as usual consisted of two rounds of 18pt games and a final 14pt round and in all 108 games were played. After the first round, Surbiton were ahead but at the end of the second round Purley Bury were holding first & second places. Following the final round Purley Bury teams were 1st & 2nd with Woking finishing a close 3rd.

The standard of play was high with many games pegged out even though there was a shortened playing time. Congratulations to Daphne Gaitley of Sussex County CC whose handicap changed to 4 at the end of the tournament.

Our thanks to Sussex County CC for providing the venue, excellent lawns and delicious refreshments.
